Mac Mini Raid 0 Boot Camp

Boot Camp Support Software 5.1.5640 (11/2/2014) Please note that Boot Camp is NOT part of the Thunderbolt™ compatibility testing and certification process by Apple and Intel. Even if the product has been certified for Windows, this does NOT include systems that are running Windows on a Mac with the help of Boot Camp. Jul 04, 2010  Booted from Snow Leopard CD. Deleted Disc 1 and Disc 3 with disc utility. Turned Disc 1 and Disc 3 into a RAID 0 partition. Restored my old Disc 1 from the Time Capsule to the new Raid partition. I can now boot into windows upon boot by pressing the option key as normal. Boot Camp Support. Install Windows on your Mac. Boot Camp is a utility that comes with your Mac and lets you switch between macOS and Windows. Download your copy of Windows 10, then let Boot Camp Assistant walk you through the installation steps. Get started with Boot Camp. Apr 28, 2018  RAID 0 is a popular disk setup solution to achieve the fastest possible read and write disk speeds by splitting data between two or more hard drives. The latest version of Mac OS X High Sierra (10.13) does not allow you to simply install to any kind of RAID configuration. This has frustrated a lot of the Mac community. Mar 20, 2019 One such situation is when wanting to run Windows 10 natively on your Mac (in my case my Mac mini). The 'normal' method would be to use Boot Camp to repartition your internal hard drive to make room for Windows 10.

Mar 17, 2020  While using Boot Camp Assistant, you receive a message to disconnect external storage devices before proceeding. Please remove any external storage device attached to this system before continuing. If you only unmounted your storage disk, you will also have to physically disconnect the storage disk from your computer so it does not show up as a connected disk in Disk Utility. Apr 27, 2008  If i have two drives setup with raid 0 for my OS installation, and vista installed via bootcamp on a separate 320GB drive in bay 3, will i be able to format my OS x drives and reinstall OS X without losing access to my vista/bootcamp drive?

- are you suggesting that if I transfer the boot partition to a faster drive before transfering to the ssd raid?

Raid Levels Explained

• [the boot partition is currently on a typical 500gb hard drive]

the plan is to switch from one 256gb ssd to two 256gb ssd drives in raid 0. the 2 ssd drives have previously been used as boot drives in the 2011 mac mini & early 2011 15' MBP

the 500 gb drive the mac mini came with is currently in use as a bootable backup.

RAID 0 stripes the data across the two devices. By design the I/O to the devices and the devices them selves need to be Matched as there is no way to buffer the write or the read if one device is slower or if the I/O to the device is slower in a RAID 0 setup. In this case the I/O path is not the same here as you are using the slower optical drives SATA connection. Other versions of the mini offer dual SATA ports that are the same speed and offer RAID 0 as an option (server models).
