Resonance is a virtual acoustic piano inspired by Nils Frahm’s music. SampleScience used a combination of acoustic and synthetic sounds to create a virtual piano instrument with a unique tone. A set of authentic attack transients sampled from an acoustic piano were combined with the samples of physically modeled piano resonance. The sound sources were blended to create this rather peculiar electroacoustic piano plugin. It sounds very similar to a real piano, with a slightly artificial tone.

Due to its percussive sound and distinctive tone, Resonance is perfect for fast piano arpeggios and complex riffs. The plugin sounds very good out-of-the-box, with minimal tweaking required to make it work as a solo instrument. Resonance also features a set of control parameters used to fine-tune its tone and shape. The user can adjust the volume envelope (Attack, Decay, Sustain, and Release), portamento speed, as well as the modulation target, speed, and depth. Also included are a simple reverb effect, a low-pass filter, and a preamp with adjustable gain.

The user can adjust the velocity response curve and the polyphony mode (mono, poly, and legato). The maximum polyphony is 128 voices. The plugin consumes 680 MB of RAM memory when loaded.
Resonance can be downloaded completely free of charge via SampleScience. You don’t need to sign up for a user account to download the software.
